Unplanned Service Interruption


WHAT HAPPENED?

Approximately 9:35 AM, Tuesday, October 20, 2009, OIT began to receive reports from users of slow performance or services being unavailable.  This is was seen in multiple applications across campus, including identity management which would impact user logins.  The cause was traced to the network-attached storage service.  The network-attached storage device was restarted successfully by 10:55 AM, October 20; most impacted services were returning to normal at that time.


WHO/WHAT WAS AFFECTED BY THIS OUTAGE?

Affected services includeD: Banner job submissions, Techworks, Peoplesoft financials, GTED, gtwebapps, Housing RMS, OSP Contract accounting, software.oit, and all ColdFusion applications.  These are in addition to T-square and College of Management problems from yesterday.


WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN?

Issues were discovered approximately 9:35 AM, Tuesday, October 20, 2009 until 10:55 AM, October 20.


WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?

Nothing.  Users should be able to access services normally at this time.
