CoC Zimbra to OIT Zimbra FAQs
Q: What will happen if I copy emails over ahead of time?
A: While imapsync, the tool being used to migrate the mailboxes, checks for duplicates, it's not foolproof. It is possible that duplicate emails may result if emails are manually copied before the migration.
Q: What's the recommended method for moving email ahead of time?
A: TSO recommends either using imapsync or drag and drop from a thick client. In some cases, imapsync will take too long to parse especially large emails, and drag and drop through a thick client is required. The GNU version of Thunderbird has tested the best. We do not recommend the use of the Apple Mail application, as it attempts to open too many connections.
Q: If I have multiple GT accounts, which one will my CC email be migrated to?
A: It will be migrated to the primary account, as provided by OIT. In most cases, this will be the gtg or first initial last name number (e.g. gburdell3) account.
Q: Is there information about reconfiguring email clients?
A: Setup information for a variety of email clients are available at faq.oit.gatech.edu. FAQs on support.cc have also been updated. If using Outlook, we recommend using the Zimbra Outlook Connector, available from software.oit.gatech.edu.
Q: Will the @cc aliases be maintained indefinitely?
A: @cc aliases are not guaranteed for life. They are scheduled to expire along with other account resources. See the CoC User Account and Access Policy for the account and resource expiration schedule.
