OIT Zimbra FAQ

Question:  I don't know my GT password.  How do I reset it?

Answer:  If you have forgotten your password, the OIT Support Center can reset it for you. There are several ways to get your password reset.

  1. Appear in the Support Center with a photo ID.
  2. Send a fax to the Support Center, ATTN: CSC, with the following information:
    • A copy of a photo ID
    • Your gtID#
    • Your GT Account username
    • A phone number we can call in order to give you the new password
  3. Call the Support Center at 404-894-7173 to have your password reset over the phone.
  4. Have the CSR in your department or school contact the Support Center on your behalf.

NOTE: OIT will not send a password via email.

Question:  Can I use Pine to check my Zimbra email?

Answer:  Additional information about Pine can be found by clicking here.

Question:  Can I use procmail with my Zimbra email?

Answer:  Zimbra doesn't use procmail.  Users won't be able to directly connect to the Zimbra server, such as with ssh, so you can't setup procmail, either.  You can setup filtering through the web client.

While we won't support procmail, if you can figure out how to use procmail from another server, using IMAPs, you can.  If you know how to set it up, here are the settings you should need:

Set your IMAP incoming mail server to imap.gatech.gatech.edu. Be sure you have enabled SSL.  Set your outgoing mail to use smtp.mail.gatech.edu.

Use your GT (PRISM) credentials.

Question:  How do I use the Zimbra web interface?

Answer:  Zimbra has a built-in Help system.  In the upper right-hand corner of the screen, there is a Help button next to the Log Out button.  Click the Help button.  Most of your questions should be covered in there.  If not, please contact the TSO Help Desk (CCB 148, 404-894-7065, helpdesk@cc.gatech.edu).
