Access your UNIX home directory from a Mac
To access your UNIX home directory from a Mac:
- click the Finder icon in the Dock
- under the "Go" menu, select "Connect to Server..."
- in the "Connect to Server" window, type smb://ccsamba.cc.gatech.edu/
(Note: To save the smb://ccsamba.cc.gatech.edu/ Server Address, click the "+" icon)
- click "Connect"
- in the "SMB/CIFS Shared Volume" window, click "Authenticate"
- in the "SMB/CIFS Filesystem Authentication" window, type CC for Workgroup or Domain, your CoC account for Name and Windows password for Password. If you do not know your Windows password, you will need to contact the TSO Help Desk for instructions on resetting it.
- in the "SMB/CIFS Shared Volume" window, choose your CoC account name (your home directory) in the dropdown menu and click "OK"
- your home directory will mount on your desktop
To make a shortcut to smb://ccsamba.cc.gatech.edu in the Dock:
- open the Terminal application located in Applications/Utilities
- at the prompt type smb://ccsamba.cc.gatech.edu/ but DO NOT press ENTER
- highlight the text smb://ccsamba.cc.gatech.edu
- drag the text to your desktop and let go of your mouse button
- find the icon on your desktop and drag it to your Documents folder
- rename the icon to "ccsamba" (or whatever you prefer)
- drag the icon from your Documents folder to the right side of your Dock (where files and folders are saved)
- click the icon in the dock
- in the "SMB/CIFS Shared Volume" window, click "Authenticate"
- in the "SMB/CIFS Filesystem Authentication" window, type CC for Workgroup or Domain, your CoC account for Name and Windows password for Password.
- in the "SMB/CIFS Shared Volume" window, choose your CoC account name (your home directory) in the dropdown menu and click "OK"
- your home directory will mount on your desktop
