WHAT’S HAPPENING?

The mount point for ccsamba is being moved to newer hardware with updated software.

Affected servers:
ccsamba.cc.gatech.edu
holder.cc.gatech.edu
oldholder.cc.gatech.edu

WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?

Monday, September 21st, from 6:15am-8am

WHY IS IT HAPPENING?

Newer versions of Windows 10 and MacOS Catalina have sunset support for the older SMB1 protocol. The new mount point will support the more secure SMB3 protocol, allowing users of Windows 10 and Catalina to correctly mount ccsamba home directories.

WHO IS AFFECTED?

Users of ccsamba will be unable to access their home directories during the maintenance, and will need to reconnect existing mounts after the change occurs. This will not effect access to linux home directories through the killerbee cluster or other server nfs mounts.

Affected services:
ccsamba samba folder access

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?

Please save your work prior to the maintenance period. After the maintenance, users will need to refresh any existing connections to ccsamba.
