To bypass the CoC print servers and print directly to a CoC printer, you must be attached to the GT network.  If you are not, you will need to connect in, such as through LAWN or VPN.

Installation of a printer in Linux/Unix can be achieved in many ways.  The method documented here was done in GNOME on Ubuntu 9.04. For KDE or other window managers, as well as other Linux distributions, consult their documentation for adding a printer.

  1. Choose System -> Administration -> Printing.
  2. Click the New Printer button.
  3. Under Select Device, expand Network Printer.  Choose AppSocket/HP JetDirect.
  4. In the Host field, type the IP address of the printer.  Leave the Port number as 9100.  Click Forward.
  5. Choose the make of the printer. If you cannot find the printer, you may also provide the PPD file for the printer if you have it.  NOTE: If you do not know the printer model, you may use Generic as the print driver.  Click Forward.
  6. Choose the model of the printer.  Select the appropriate driver.  Click Forward.
  7. You may be presented with an Installable Options screen.  If so, select the appropriate options or accept the defaults and click Forward.
  8. Fill in the fields on the Describe Printer page or accept the defaults.  Click Apply.
