In reference to the message below, at 5:00 PM, Friday, January 16, 2009, TSO will migrate the file server adminfs.cc.gatech.edu to new hardware. This will affect CoC faculty and staff who access files on adminfs. During this migration, which is expected to be completed by 12:30 AM, January 17, the adminfs file shares will be unavailable.
Update:
The AdminFS move went smoothly. Only 4 Sub-Directories had permissions issues and failed to transfer during the maintenance window. However, these directories have been successfully migrated as of 1:30 PM January 17.

Subject: [Staff] Admin FS Maintenance Announcement
Good Afternoon,
AdminFS, the server holding College administrative data, has been experiencing an equipment issue that has caused intermittent outages since late December and could ultimately result in loss of data if not quickly addressed.
A new server will be brought into production to replace the existing AdminFS server on Friday, January 16th at 5:00 pm. We expect the migration to be completed by 12:30 am early Saturday morning, January 17th. During this time, AdminFS will be unavailable.
Over the weekend the refreshed DNS and NetBIOS names for AdminFS will be advertised. College of Computing domain controlled computers should switch over to the new AdminFS automatically. A few computers may continue to have stale connections, but the TSO Help Desk will be available on Tuesday, January 20th at 7:00 am to fix these issues. You may contact the help desk at 404-894-7065 or email them at helpdesk@cc.gatech.edu.
Thank you and have a great holiday!
