WHAT HAPPENED?
Portions of Campus experienced a networking outage.

WHEN DID IT HAPPEN?
TSO became aware of the issues at approximately 1:20PM on 12/17/20. Networking was restored at 3:45PM and affected servers and services were brought back up shortly after.

WHY DID IT HAPPEN?
The outage was caused by a spanning tree loop that began in the College of Computing and propagated out to the networks that share a campus firewall. 

WHO IS AFFECTED?
Affected networks included portions of LAWN (including Eduroam), ResNet, and College of Computing. Users on these networks experienced limited or no connectivity to campus and internet resources, including access to websites, production and research servers, and printing.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
Users may need to disconnect and reconnect to the physical or wifi network to restore networking following the outage. Please reach out to the HelpDesk if you need further assistance.
