WHAT'S HAPPENING?
OIT is conducting network, firewall, and GTevents maintenance.

WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?
Network:  Thursday, March 14, 2013, from 5:00 to 5:20 AM.
Firewall:  Thursday, March 14, 2013, from 5:20 AM to 7:00 AM.
GTevents:  From 2:00 PM, Friday, March 15, 2013, to 7:00 AM, Monday, March 18, 2013.

WHY IS IT HAPPENING?
Network:  OIT will enable IPv6 routing on the campus core routers NI-rtr, SI-rtr, BCDC1-rtr, and DC-rtr.
Firewall:  IPv6 firewall rules will be moved from their IPv6 only firewall into combined IPv4/IPv6 firewalls.
GTevents:  The GT Events Reservation Management System gtevents.gatech.edu (EMS) will undergo a major upgrade.

WHO IS AFFECTED?
Users should be minimally impacted regarding the network and firewall maintenance.  No downtime is expected regarding the network change, and the firewall changes should result in one to two minutes of downtime on each affected IPv6 subnet.  All EMS campus and GT Events customers will be affected.  EMS campus users (non-GTPE) users will be restricted from system access for the entire maintenance period.  GTPE users will be restricted beginning at 4:00 PM, Friday, March 15, until the end of the maintenance period.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
EMS and GTPE users should log out of the system prior to the times listed above.  Following the upgrade, access to the system should not require further actions.
