Temperatures are holding in CCB 247. TSO has powered on all servers in CCB 247. We did encounter some failures and are currently troubleshooting some switches and 2 in row coolers. Over the next few days, we will be verifying that servers and services are running as expected, as well as troubleshooting any issues that arise.

TSO staff were on-site at 7 am and are currently powering on servers. Some failures have been identified with switches and in-row coolers. TSO will continue to bring servers and services online throughout the day.

CCB Data Center (CCB 247):
The temporary chiller for CCB arrived and has been connected. Temperatures are beginning to drop. TSO staff will be onsite Sunday, July 28 at 7am to begin powering on servers in CCB 247.
Klaus Data Center (Klaus 2219):
Three temporary spot chillers were installed on Friday evening. Comfort cooling to the Klaus building was turned off today due to emergency repair work (https://facilities.gatech.edu/chilled-water-outage) causing the data center temperatures to begin rising pass acceptable thresholds. GT facilities is onsite to install additional spot chillers in Klaus 2219. TSO will assess the situation tonight once the install is complete to determine if additional servers/services in Klaus 2219 need to be turned off.

GT Facilities has identified a leak at Harrison Square. GT Facilities is going to repair. They are unsure how long it will take.
We have made arrangements to acquire a temporary chiller. It’s scheduled to arrive tomorrow, Saturday July 27, 2024. TSO will begin bringing the data center back up once temperatures reach an approachable threshold. We expect to have services up and running by noon on Sunday, July 28, 2024.
WHAT’S HAPPENING?
The CCB Data center is being shutdown.
WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?
Beginning around 4:30 am, July 26, 2024, temperature began rising in the CCB data center.
WHY IS IT HAPPENING?
The CCB building is losing water pressure. GT facilities says that it is potentially impacting all of campus.
WHO IS AFFECTED?
All users of server located in CCB 247.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
Nothing at this time. TSO staff is onsite.
