WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?

December 10th, from 6am to 4pm. If TSO is unable to get to all the switches within the maintenance window, the remaining work will be done on December 15th.

WHY IS IT HAPPENING?

The new data center switches are uplinked directly to the CCB building switches and will provide redundancy during future code upgrades, maintenance, or hardware failures. The switches in the data center will also get a code upgrade to fix a security bug in the Cisco software.

WHO IS AFFECTED?

The servers listed above will experience brief network outages over the course of the maintenance window as each networking switch is transitioned to the new hardware and software is updated. No impact is expected to Administrative or Instructional services.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?

If you will be accessing any of the servers listed above during the maintenance window, please save your work often and run your processes in tmux or screen to avoid interruption or loss of work. No other user action should be required. Please reach out to the TSO Help Desk if there are issues connecting to equipment after the maintenance window.

WHO SHOULD YOU CONTACT FOR QUESTIONS?

Feel free to contact the TSO Help Desk (helpdesk@cc.gatech.edu).
