On Tuesday, July 14, 2009, beginning at 5:00 PM, TSO will perform upgrades to the secondary DNS servers timewand.cc.gatech.edu and teleporter.cc.gatech.edu to address the resolution failure of the .org, .gov, and other domains that are now running DNSSEC (see http://support.cc.gatech.edu/utilities/alerts/dns-resolution-issues and http://support.cc.gatech.edu/utilities/alerts/partial-dns-outage for details). TSO will first patch timewand.cc.gatech.edu (130.207.17.22), the lesser used of the two secondary servers, and confirm the proper operation of .org, .gov, and other domains that implement DNSSEC. Once the proper operation of the first DNS server is confirmed, TSO will then patch teleporter.cc.gatech.edu (130.207.17.21). During this maintenance window, which is expected to be completed by 7:00 PM, July 14, DNS resolution may be slow, but it should not fail. This will affect CoC faculty, staff, and students.
