WHAT HAPPENED?
Email inbound for @cc.gatech.edu email addresses bounced.

WHEN DID IT HAPPEN?
On Tuesday, May 11, 2010, between 5:45 PM and 7:00 PM.

WHY DID IT HAPPEN?
During the scheduled maintenance (see http://support.cc.gatech.edu/utilities/alerts/regularly-scheduled-patching-day-2 for further details), a patch was applied to the primary mailhead ace.cc.gatech.edu that caused it to reject email inbound for @cc.gatech.edu addresses.

WHO WAS AFFECTED?
Anyone who sent an email to an @cc.gatech.edu email address would have received a bounce, except CoC Exchange users sending to other CoC Exchange users. Outbound email was not affected.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
Email that was bounced during the outage will need to be resent. TSO is compiling the list of bounced messages and will notify the affected users.

HAS THE PROBLEM BEEN RESOLVED?
Yes. The faulty patch was identified and backed out, and ace was returned to normal service.
