WHAT’S HAPPENING?
TSO will be restricting access to port 22 on all college subnets to campus networks and the VPN.

Affected servers:
All computers being accessed through port 22 from outside the campus network or VPN

WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?
This change will be occurring at 6:30 PM on Wednesday September 6, 2023

WHY IS IT HAPPENING?
A security breach occurred on a research subnet due to vulnerabilities exposed on a computer that was open to the internet.

WHO IS AFFECTED?
Users attempting to connect to computers in the college from off campus and not using the VPN.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
No action is needed if you currently access your computers only from on campus or via the VPN. If you do need to maintain port 22 access from outside the campus network without VPN please submit a firewall exemption request at https://support.cc.gatech.edu/resources/forms/lab-firewall-exemption and we will reopen the port for your specific machine.
