WHAT’S HAPPENING?

APC will be onsite to repair a faulty switch by-pass module on the UPS in KACB 2219.

holder - faculty and graduate student home directories
oscar - faculty and graduate student home directories

agnew - CCAD forest root domain controller
curtis - CCAD domain controller, DNS

cc-larry - GTAD database server (FileMaker Pro)
cc-moe - GTAD file server (Commshare)
cc-achham - GTAD keybox server
cc-adamawa - GTAD file server, AdminFS, Windows Home Directories (winhome)

WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?

TSO will shutdown servers starting at 7:45AM on August 3rd, and will bring the servers back online no later than 10:30AM.

WHY IS IT HAPPENING?

The APC tech will replace the faulty module and then perform additional diagnostics to bring the UPS unit back under our service contract.

WHO IS AFFECTED?

Users of MOPIERs, AdminFS, windows home directories, Commshare, FileMaker Pro, the keybox management software, and the password reset form..
Users trying to interact with the RT Ticketing System.
Users backing up or restoring data with the CoC CrashPlan servers.
All resources mounted from ccsamba.cc.gatech.edu.
Users sending mail to Mailman lists or attempting to access the mailman.cc.gatech.edu web interface.
All static www.cc.gatech.edu content.
All personal CoC webpages (~ pages).
Systems with /net/www mounts.
CoC faculty and grad students whose home directories reside on the file systems listed below.

Users of the following file systems:

ac82 ac84 ac85
ac88 ac89 ac916
www-db    

Users of the following websites:
classes.cc.gatech.edu
research.cc.gatech.edu

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?

Save and close any open files on AdminFS, the Windows home directories, or the Commshare prior to 7:45am .  
Close out of FileMaker Pro and any other affected applications.  
Users with affected Linux home directories should save their work prior to the maintenance period and be prepared for service interruption during the maintenance window.
Any manual backup or restore jobs with the CrashPlan servers that have not finished before the maintenance will need to be restarted after the maintenance period.
Users should avoid sending mail to Mailman mailing lists during the maintenance period.  Mail sent to mailman lists during the maintenance period may not be queued and may need to be resent.
