WHAT’S HAPPENING?

LAWN's DHCP server is failing to provide IP addresses to new client connections.

Affected servers:

lawn.gatech.edu

WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?

The problem began overnight and is ongoing.

WHY IS IT HAPPENING?

The DHCP server's MAC address tables are completely filled, which is causing the addition of new MAC addresses to fail.  This causes new clients to fail DHCP negotiations for an IP address.  When OIT cleared the tables, they immediately filled up again.

HAS THE ISSUE BEEN RESOLVED?

No, OIT's investigation is ongoing.  An update will be provided once more information is forthcoming.

WHO IS AFFECTED?
