WHAT HAPPENED?

The College Mailman mailing list service went down over the weekend and stopped processing emails sent to mailing lists.

Affected servers:
mailman.cc.gatech.edu

WHEN DID IT HAPPEN?

The service stopped at approximately 9:34pm on July 24th - service was restored at 8:10am on July 27th.

WHY DID IT HAPPEN?

The mailman process slowly used all available memory and locked up the system. The server was rebooted and service was restored. Prior to this outage, TSO was already planning on transitioning this service to a new VM on 7/29 - Mailman Server Maintenance 7/29.

WHO IS AFFECTED?

All College users who send or receive email through the College supported mailman service.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?

Email sent during this time may have bounced back to users of the lists, but should now be processing as the service has recovered. Users will not need to resend emails or responses sent during this outage window.
