WHAT HAPPENED?
Emergency network maintenance by the OIT Networking Team caused a switch on the 3rd floor of CCB to lose communication with some of the network controllers. The work also caused a disruption between some VMs and their storage, which caused the VMs to either go into read-only mode or shut down completely.

WHEN DID IT HAPPEN?
Networking work occurred on Saturday, January 27 at about 7:45am. The VMs were brought back online at 3:30pm the same day (01/27). CCB 3rd floor networking was addressed the morning of Monday, January 29.

WHY IS IT HAPPENING?
OIT was performing maintenance on the campus firewalls and unexpectedly caused a very brief network outage.

WHO IS AFFECTED?
Offices on the 3rd floor of CCB, and owners/users of the VMs listed above.

Affected services:
Networking on the 3rd floor, generally on the south end of CCB.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
The situations in each case have been corrected.
