A networking issue caused a number of College web sites and services to be unavailable.
WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?
TSO became aware of the issue at 11:45am. The issue was resolved around 12:40pm.
WHY IS IT HAPPENING?
TSO moved a network switch that services 4-5 research servers. When the switch was powered on in the new location, networking issues began in other parts of the College network. TSO and OIT are still investigating the root cause, but a spanning tree loop is suspected.
WHO IS AFFECTED?
Users and visitors to the College website, the TSO Support site, and the mailman.cc.gatech.edu web interface were unable to reach these sites during this time. Other servers may have experienced down time during this window as well.
Affected services: cc.gatech.edu, support.cc.gatech.edu, mailman.cc.gatech.edu
