WHAT WAS HAPPENING?

A small percentage of email addressed to @cc email aliases was being rejected.

WHEN DID IT HAPPEN?

Ongoing since July 24, 2014, when campus migrated to a new email delivery system.

WHY DID IT HAPPEN?

The firewall occasionally interfered with the process the new mail appliance used to verify CoC addresses, resulting in mail to valid CoC addresses being rejected.  As the verification process was redundant, we requested that OIT disable it, which fixed the issue.

WHO WAS AFFECTED?

OIT could not determine exactly how many mails bounced.

HAS THE PROBLEM BEEN RESOLVED?

Yes.  As stated, we requested OIT disable the redundant verification process, which resolved the issue.
