WHAT?S HAPPENING?
Logins to TSO-managed Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 4 will change. Access to Solaris systems will be restricted.

WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?
On Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at 5:00 PM.

WHY IS IT HAPPENING?
As part of the College's long-term goal of a unified authentication system, TSO will configure those RHEL 4 systems to authenticate against the CC Windows Active Directory. Solaris systems' ssh access will be restricted to the CoC subnets, the CoC VPN, and the campus VPN to mitigate the security exposure from these older servers, until they can be migrated to newer hardware and software.

WHO IS AFFECTED?
Users of TSO-managed RHEL 4 systems and the Solaris systems listed below.

Affected systems:
gaia.cc.gatech.edu
gaia3.cc.gatech.edu
gaia4.cc.gatech.edu

lassie.cc.gatech.edu
marquesas.cc.gatech.edu

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
Users of TSO-managed RHEL 4 systems should use their CC AD Windows credentials to access all TSO-managed Windows and Linux computers after the maintenance period. Solaris users will need to access the affected systems from CoC subnets or via VPN following the maintenance.
