At 2:30 PM August 5, 2009, DNS resolution from the internet to OIT's atl.ga.us domain and sub domains began to fail. All DNS resolution for these systems from the internet will not return proper IP addresses. Anyone trying to get to a computer with a domain name that ends in .atl.ga.us would experience problems from off campus. Internal resolution of these addresses will succeed, if the DNS servers used are timewand.cc.gatech.edu and teleporter.cc.gatech.edu (130.207.17.21 and 130.207.17.22). OIT is looking into the failure, and will report when more information is known.

UPDATE: August 5, 2009 5:00PM. The problem has been fixed. DNS resolutions that were cached during the event may take up to 24 hours to update. During this time, DNS resolution may be intermittent.
