WHAT?S HAPPENING?
TSO will install Office 2007 on TSO-managed workstations.


WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?
Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at 6:00 PM. For machines that are unavailable at this time, the installation will be repeated at 6:00 PM on July 28 and 29.


WHY IS IT HAPPENING?
In preparation for the Exchange Server 2010 migration (see http://support.cc.gatech.edu/utilities/alerts/exchange-server-2010 for further details), all Outlook users must be running Outlook 2007 or later.


WHO IS AFFECTED?
All TSO-managed workstations with Office 2003 or earlier and without Office 2007 or later. Because the Office 2007 suite introduced a significantly redesigned user interface, TSO will perform a side-by-side installation, leaving the earlier Office applications installed and available. Only Outlook will be replaced, which does not feature the new interface.


WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
CoC faculty and staff who have TSO-managed workstations: Users will need to logout of their workstations prior to leaving for the day.

CoC faculty and staff who use Outlook 2003 or earlier to access Exchange on non-managed workstations or laptops: Users will need to upgrade their Office installation to Office 2007 or use OWA (https://ccmail.cc.gatech.edu). If the laptop is GT-owned and you would like TSO to perform the installation, please bring it by your nearest TSO Help Desk location (see http://support.cc.gatech.edu/services/helpdesk).

? For GT-owned equipment, Office 2007 is available from https://software.oit.gatech.edu.
? For personal purchases, academic priced versions are available through the eAcademy site (http://gatech.e-academy.com/) or the USG's SRS site (http://www.srs.usg.edu/).
