Update: The outage has been modified with additional information regarding resolution time and cause.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The ~ aliases for individual websites (example: cc.gatech.edu/~aleonard) were not functioning correctly and showed a 404 error.

WHEN DID IT HAPPEN?

The outage began following last night's Linux Systems Patching, starting around 8PM, May 4th. The issue was resolved at 12:30PM, May 5th.

WHY DID IT HAPPEN?

Routine patching replaced a configuration file that had been previously removed, overriding TSO's existing configuration. The configuration file has been replaced with a blank file to prevent this from happening in the future and ~ aliases are once again operational.

WHO WAS AFFECTED?

Most ~ aliases were inoperable during the outage window. Users attempting to access individual sites through the ~ alias were unable to do so.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?

No user action is required. Users can always access their websites through the following paths in addition to the ~ alias -

Faculty - cc.gatech.edu/fac/<ccusername>
Staff - cc.gatech.edu/staff/<first letter of username>/<ccusername> (example: cc.gatech.edu/staff/a/aleonard)
Grad - cc.gatech.edu/grads/<first letter of username>/<ccusername> (example: cc.gatech.edu/grads/a/aleonard)

WHO SHOULD YOU CONTACT FOR QUESTIONS?
