According to the schedule below, TSO will perform patching of all managed Windows desktop computers, affecting the following:

? Faculty and staff desktop computers on the CC domain
? Research lab desktop computers on the CC domain
? Instructional lab desktop computers on the GTAD domain

Note: This work does not involve laptops or OutLAN computers.

This patching schedule is as follows:

? June 22 at 6:00 PM,
o LANDesk agents will be patched to sp3.

? June 23 at 6:00 PM,
o Routine Windows and Office patches will be made available to all managed Windows desktop computers.
o In addition, we will update to the latest version of Java JRE, to comply with the new Banner requirements (for details, see the News posting at http://support.cc.gatech.edu/news/banner-update-1).
o We will update Firefox 1 & 2 installs to the newest version of Firefox 3, to comply with the new Banner requirements and to improve our security posture (Firefox 1 & 2 are no longer supported by the Mozilla project).

These patches will require a reboot following installation, so users should save their work, logout, and leave their desktop computers on before leaving for the day. After the patching is complete, an affected desktop computer will reboot even if a user is logged in. For the June 23 patching, an onscreen notification countdown will be displayed on logged-in computers, allowing users 30 minutes to save their work before the reboot occurs. The LANDesk agent update on June 22 will NOT display a countdown before rebooting.

Banner users should visit https://oscar.gatech.edu/forms/frmservlet?config=bjpi on June 24 to verify correct settings. If you are unable to access the site, please contact the TSO Help Desk for assistance.
