WHAT’S HAPPENING?
OIT will be performing hardware upgrades on two campus core routers.
WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?
Sunday, June 22nd from 6am - 2pm:
WHY IS IT HAPPENING?
The supervisor and fabric module cards on these routers are approaching their manufacturer end of life and end of support dates. These parts will be upgraded to newer cards to extend the overall life of the routers. In addition, the newer supervisors and fabric modules enable support for newer and higher bandwidth line cards, so they will also be installing new 400Gbps line cards in each router to support future bandwidth needs on campus.
WHO IS AFFECTED?
The routers are redundant with one another and will be upgraded one at a time, so one router should be able to handle all network traffic while the other is being upgraded. However, all wired and wireless network connectivity on both the Atlanta and Savannah campuses is heavily dependent on these two routers, so individuals should be prepared for network disruptions during the maintenance window in case there are issues.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
Save any work before the maintenance window.
