Duo's two-factor authentication keeps information safe by requiring a second layer of authentication before information can be accessed. Since the second authentication is independent from your username and password, if your password is stolen, the application using two-factor authentication is safe from attempted hackers.

The implementation of Duo should thwart some unpleasant situations the campus has seen recently such as phishing messages, unauthorized Techworks access, direct deposit changes, and grade changes.
