VMWare Software Distribution Changes

WHAT’S HAPPENING?
In previous semesters, the College of Computing has made VMWare products available automatically to all students enrolled in a CS course. VMWare has moved to a new vendor and platform for distributing the VMWare tools and changed their subscription model - instead of the flat rate offered at OnTheHub for as many licenses as needed, the new vendor (BrightSpace) is charging per license. We have purchased an initial batch of licenses and will be giving them out on an ‘as-needed’ basis, purchasing more as needed.

In May, 2014, Autodesk changed its Education business model, providing free access to Autodesk's professional desktop and suites for educational institutions in North America.  This opportunity allows Georgia Tech and other educational institutions to freely access Autodesk software.   Several popular packages are available such as AutoDesk, Maya, 3ds Max, SoftImage, SketchBook Express, and more.
