The CCB 103 instructional lab currently houses the Baird Lab (general access desktops) and the Digital Media and Gaming Lab (DMGL). This room will be reconfigured and repurposed during Fall semester 2014. A construction project will occur that will add three offices in the area and reduce the physical size of the lab. In addition, CCB 104A which currently houses the Information Security Lab (InfoSec) and Networking Lab will be converted to an undergraduate Instructor Lab, which will support the recent increase in CS enrollment. We have also noted a sharp reduction in usage of the Baird Lab general access desktops which can be attributed to the student laptop ownership requirement. As a result of the changes, the Baird Lab general access desktop resource will be retired and the Information Security Lab, the Networking Lab and the Digital Media and Gaming Lab (DMGL) will be moved into the remaining CCB 103 space. The resulting CCB 103 space will still be referred to as the Baird Lab and be repurposed to support only courses that require physical access to specialized equipment that students cannot provide for themselves.
During the Fall semester, the InfoSec and DMGL labs will be located in CCB 104A to accommodate the construction and will be moved to CCB 103 upon completion.
