WHAT'S HAPPENING?
Users have reported two new email phishing attempts that attempt to persuade recipients to visit a non-GT web site or respond with private information (examples below). Please be advised that these are not legitimate emails and should be ignored and deleted. If you receive an email like these, do not respond or follow the link. Neither OIT nor TSO will ever ask for your password in an email.
Example 1
From: gatech.edu Management Team [<REMOVED>]
Sent: Wednesday, May 12, 2010 1:44 PM
Subject: Warning Notice!!!
A DGTFX virus has been detected in your folders.
Your email account has to be upgraded to our new
Secured DGTFX anti-virus 2010 version to prevent
damages to our webmail log and your important
files.
Click your reply button, Fill the columns below and
send back or your email account will be terminated
immediately to avoid spread of the virus.

Date Of Birth:
www.gatech.edu Web-Admin Management Team.
Any incorrect email account details received will
violate your upgrade process and your email account
will be terminated without any further notice.
Note that your password will be encrypted with
1024-bit RSA keys for your password safety to
avoid any unauthorized user.
