OIT has announced that they will restart Zimbra email and calendaring services at 11:00 PM on Tuesday, January 27, 2009. This will result in services being unavailable for about ten minutes, affecting all users of my.gatech.edu. Additional details are available in the original message below.

WHAT IS HAPPENING?

OIT is performinga zimbra restart, which will take services

down for lessthan ten minutes.

WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?

The restart willtake about ten minutes and will happen at

11pm tonight,Tuesday, January 27. That is, theinterruption

will be from 11pmuntil 11:10pm.

WHO IS AFFECTED BY THIS INTERRUPTION?

All users of MyGaTech (http://my.gatech.edu/ - Zimbra email). This

interruption willalso affect access via Outlook, Thunderbird and other

clients, inaddition to any Web clients.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO WHEN THE SYSTEM IS AVAILABLEAGAIN?

Business asusual. Mail sent to My GaTech usersduring the period of

this

outage will bequeued in the central systems and delivered after the

system is inoperation again. No mail will be lost.

HOW DOES THIS ACTIVITY BENEFIT YOU?

This upgrade isto enable configuration changes necessary for

integration withthe next version of Buzzport which is currently

undergoingtesting and tentatively slated for rollout this coming

weekend. This restart is necessary so thatBuzzport-Zimbra

integration canbe tested beforehand.
