Details:
In the next week and a half, TSO will begin to migrate the College of Computing?s Microsoft Exchange mail services to a new platform hosted by the Georgia Tech Research Institute. This is being done in an effort to bring multiple Exchange users from across campus under one support structure within GTRI and because the College?s current Exchange environment is in need of life cycle replacement. We anticipate that this migration will increase service levels while at the same time reducing support costs. We are finalizing our tests to automate the process and to ensure the migration will have little effect on your daily productivity. TSO is also creating a web page that will have HOW TOs, FAQs' and other pertinent information to aid in the transition. This page will be linked from the TSO support page at http://support.cc.gatech.edu.
The exact dates and time of the migration will be from Friday, April 25th at 5:00pm through Sunday, April 27th at 11:59pm. Please prepare for Exchange email and Blackberry Enterprise Services to be unavailable during this period. Non-Exchange email will NOT be affected. If you experience any kind of issue with Exchange after the conversion, please notify the help desk as soon as possible. TSO Staff will be making rounds on Monday, April 28th to verify that exchange users have been converted without issue.
Finally, we would like to invite you to the first of an ongoing series of talks. TSO is offering these technical talks as an opportunity to see the detailed plans as we continue to roll out new and improved services to the college. We encourage you to come and provide your suggestions for improvement. Our Flight Readiness Review for MS Exchange Migration will be on Friday, April 18th from 11:00am ? noon in Klaus 1116E.
If you have any questions regarding the migration, please contact the help desk at 404.894.7065 or come see us at the review discussion on Friday, April 18th.
Thank you,
Russell Poole
Director, TSO
