WHAT'S HAPPENING?
GT is transitioning from McAfee to Microsoft for its central antivirus service provider.

WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?
The change is in progress and will run through the end of February, 2014.

WHO IS AFFECTED?
Users with GT-provided McAfee products installed on their work or personal systems.  All such copies of McAfee must be uninstalled before March 1, 2014.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
Users with TSO-managed desktops:  TSO will remove McAfee and install the Microsoft solution (SCEP) during its regular patching windows.  Any machines that do not get updated during the patching windows will be manually remediated.

Users with TSO-managed laptops:  Please bring your laptop by your nearest TSO Help Desk location (http://support.cc.gatech.edu/services/helpdesk) before March 1, 2014 to have McAfee uninstalled and SCEP installed.

Users with non-TSO-managed systems: Please see http://support.cc.gatech.edu/support-tools/howto/how-do-i-remove-mcafee-my-computer for removal instructions and contact the TSO Help Desk for assistance with getting SCEP installed.

Users with personally-owned systems: Please see http://support.cc.gatech.edu/support-tools/howto/how-do-i-remove-mcafee-my-computer for removal instructions and contact the TSO Help Desk for recommendations on identifying an alternative antivirus solution as SCEP is not licensed for personal equipment.

WHO SHOULD YOU CONTACT FOR QUESTIONS?
The OIT Technology Support Center (404-894-7173, support@oit.gatech.edu) or the TSO Help Desk (CCB 148, 404-894-7065, helpdesk@cc.gatech.edu).  Additional information is available at http://docs.oit.gatech.edu:8443/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=17402626

UPDATE:
SCEP is now available through software.oit.gatech.edu for faculty and staff to install on their non-TSO-managed systems (although the TSO Help Desk is still available to assist those with the install who desire assistance).  It is listed as Unmanaged VirusScan for System Center 2012 Endpoint Protection on software.oit.
