WHAT'S HAPPENING?
Internet Explorer (IE) is being targeted through an unpatched vulnerability.

WHY IS IT HAPPENING?
Exploit code has been released which targets an unpatched vulnerability in versions 6-9 of IE. Further details regarding this vulnerability are available at the following URL's:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/advisory/2757760
http://www.h-online.com/security/news/item/Microsoft-and-Germany-s-BSI-warn-against-using-IE-1710058.html

WHO IS AFFECTED?
The versions being targeted are currently in use by all of the TSO-managed Windows workstations and laptops.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
Users should avoid using IE for most daily Internet browsing tasks.  Because some campus online applications require older versions of IE and Java that may be vulnerable to security exploits, TSO recommends the use of an alternate browser such as Firefox for most browsing and that users reserve IE use for those online applications that require it.
