This week, the general-access UNIX servers named tampere.cc.gatech.edu, mikkeli.cc.gatech.edu and helsinki.cc.gatech.edu were upgraded to the latest Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 operating system and were rebranded as The Killerbee UNIX Cluster. Two more servers have been added to bring the number to five servers. These servers are available to all CoC faculty and graduate students for general-purpose computing, but are not available as a resource for classes. These relatively modest systems are not intended to be used as a significant computational resource.

The system details are:

  • killerbee1.cc.gatech.edu (formerly tampere.cc.gatech.edu), Dell PowerEdge 1850, 2x3.2GHz Pentium4 Xeon, 4GB RAM
  • killerbee2.cc.gatech.edu (formerly mikkeli.cc.gatech.edu), Dell PowerEdge 1850, 2x3.2GHz Pentium4 Xeon, 4GB RAM
  • killerbee3.cc.gatech.edu (formerly helsinki.cc.gatech.edu), Dell PowerEdge 1850, 2x3.2GHz Pentium4 Xeon, 4GB RAM
  • killerbee4.cc.gatech.edu (formerly tampere.cc.gatech.edu), Dell PowerEdge 2650, 2x2.8GHz Pentium4 Xeon, 1GB RAM
  • killerbee5.cc.gatech.edu (formerly tampere.cc.gatech.edu), Dell PowerEdge 1850, 2x2.8GHz Pentium4 Xeon, 4GB RAM

Service details:

  • Login using your CC Active Directory (Windows) password
  • Use for general-purpose, intractive UNIX shell access
  • Use for Sun Ray Terminal - Linux Access (via XDMCP)
  • Not a resource for class use
  • Not for computational jobs
