Some newer Apple Macintosh laptops are having trouble remembering GTwireless configuration settings. That is, after you configure your laptop for GTwireless networking and subsequenty shutdown or sleep your laptop, it will not remember the settings when it wakes. Macs that are currently affected by the bug are the following models:

  • MacBook (late 2007)
  • MacBook (early 2008) *current model*
  • MacBook Pro (early 2008) *current model*
  • MacBook Air
  • iMac (early 2008)

All other models are able to remember the GTwireless connection if you reset the OS X Keychain using /Applications/Utilities/Keychain Access and the computer is restarted.

UPDATE (May 28, 2008):

Apple Inc. has released the OS X 10.5.3 update, which provides over 200 fixes for OS X and also includes a new Broadcom driver for wireless. The update is available through Software Update. This release should resolve the above mentioned issue where OS X does not reconnect automatically to closed wireless networks (such as GTwireless) after sleep/restart for more recent Apple computers. Please let the OIT Helpdesk (support@oit) know if you continue to experience this problem after installing the update and restarting your computer. Apple Inc. engineering has been working closely with OIT to resolve this issue and it will be important to know if there are still issues so they can be quickly addressed.
