OIT has announced that they will perform maintenance on MyGaTech and the Identity Management Databases from 6:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Saturday, September 19, 2009. This will affect users of MyGaTech/Zimbra and BuzzPort users. This may also affect passport users. For full details, please see the announcements below.

WHAT IS HAPPENING?
My GaTech/Zimbra mail, calendar and contacts will be down on September 19, 2009 from 6 a.m. to noon.

WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?
September 19, 2009, from 6 a.m. to noon.

WHO IS AFFECTED BY THIS INTERRUPTION?
Users of My GaTech/Zimbra services, including BuzzPort users who mighttry to access their email or any group or course calendars during thistime.

Effects to these users are:

·bull; Users of My GaTech/Zimbra will be unable to access their MyGaTech/Zimbra email, calendar, or contacts during these time periods.

·bull; People who send e-mail to users of My GaTech/Zimbramay receive a mail delivery delayed message.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO WHEN THE SYSTEM IS AVAILABLE AGAIN?
Business as usual. Mail sent to My GaTech/Zimbra users during theperiod of this outage will be queued in the central systems anddelivered after the system is in operation again.

HOW DOES THIS ACTIVITY BENEFIT YOU?
OIT is performing work to enhance the redundancy of our current e-mail system.

TECHNICAL DETAILS ABOUT THIS SCHEDULED SERVICE INTERRUPTION
During this planned outage, OIT will be reconfiguring backend storageconfigurations. No Zimbra upgrade is planned, and there should be novisible user impact outside of the outage window.

Several of our Back End Identity Management Databases will be taken offline forroutine maintenance.

WHO/WHAT IS AFFECTED?
Systems that connect or depend on these identity management databases may be impacted during this time.

For GT Account holders, these include:
Passport - GT Account holders will beable to log on to systems they use such as Buzzport and T-Square, but will notbe able to perform these functions during this time:
- change passwords

-set hints

-manage guests

For IT support personnel and other direct users of identitymanagement services, these include:
- GT Enterprise Directory which will remain available, but updates will just bedelayed until after the maintenance window.
- There may be a delay in data propagation fromsource systems to GTED, GTAD or other connected systems.
- Wand will be unavailable

WHEN IS THIS HAPPENING?
The work will start at 0600 on Saturday morning, Sep. 19. It should be complete by noon.
