WHAT'S HAPPENING?
OIT will begin removing executable attachments from incoming messages sent to MyGaTech/Zimbra.


WHEN IS IT HAPPENING?
Beginning on January 14, 2014.


WHY IS IT HAPPENING?
To align the MyGaTech service with industry standards and security best practices.  Only attachments known to execute programs will be removed (e.g. *.exe, *.vb, *.bat, *.pif), not all attachments.


WHO IS AFFECTED?
Users of MyGaTech/Zimbra.


WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO?
Affected users will see the body of the original message and an additional technical note as shown below notifying them of the potential malicious attachment's removal.

Security Notice:  An attachment to this message has been removed for your protection as it could be potentially dangerous.  If you were expecting this attachment, please contact the sender, and ask them to transfer the file using another method or ask them to zip the attachment before retransmitting.  If you have any questions, please contact your local IT technical support.
