OIT has announced new software downloads available to faculty and staff for installation on Georgia Tech systems only. The new downloads include the following:
- MS Office 2007 for Windows
- MS Office 2008 for Mac
- MS Visual Studio 2008
- VMware Fusion for Macintosh
- VMware Desktop for Windows
The TSO Help Desk now provides support for Office 2007 for Windows and Office 2008 for Macintosh. To download this software, visit the OIT Software Distribution web site.
Regarding MS Office 2007: due to increased system requirements and a significantly redesigned user interface (UI) over previous Office versions, the TSO Help Desk will be installing the Office Compatibility Pack during our Windows update on March 18, 2008. This will allow users of previous versions of Office to interact with the new Office 2007 file formats. So, if you cannot or choose not to upgrade to Office 2007, you will still be able to open, edit, and save files in the new formats.
Regarding MS Office 2008: we have received reports of an issue saving .xls files in Excel 2008. Further information is available here.
