Faculty Site Replacement Project (FSRP)
As part of our strategic initiative to upgrade our servers and infrastructure, the web team has developed an enhanced website management interface to improve the process for updating faculty websites. We are asking faculty members to participate in testing to ensure the new application meets your needs and to provide feedback before the official rollout. If you are interested in testing, please email tsoweb@cc.gatech.edu, and we will follow up with more information about the testing process.
Departing Employee Equipment
With the USG’s renewed focus on cybersecurity, there is a specific emphasis on physical security. To this end, when an employee leaves the College, their equipment will be returned directly to the HelpDesk, who will work with supervisors on next steps.

RECENT ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Staff from across TSO attended the OneIT Symposium – a day of presentations and discussions around IT tools and initiatives here at Tech. OneIT was created to encourage networking and collaboration amongst the distributed IT teams around campus.
As we near the end of the Spring semester, the Instructional Team is preparing for a busy Summer of software updates and hardware upgrades to HCE@CoC, the instructional-focused cluster for disparate computing hardware in the College. The HCE@CoC documentation has been refreshed with information on new hardware – it should now also be more searchable!
The migration of our mailing list service to Mailman 3 is complete and the Infrastructure team is wrapping up its documentation. If you didn’t attend the brownbag last week, we will be posting the recording to support.cc.gatech.edu.
TSO Research toured the Coda Databank datacenter alongside our friends at PACE. Many of our faculty utilize PACE resources to perform their research, so it was great to see where these machines are hosted.
The members of the HelpDesk continue to participate in campus-level working groups for the endpoint tools installed on your machines - these working groups are important for shaping these IT solutions for the campus.
The TSO Web team is focused on backend maintenance and upgrades to support future projects, including the newly completed update to the Mercury newsfeed on the main College site and the upcoming Faculty Site Replacement Project.
On the CyberSecurity front, TSO has addressed 539 vulnerabilities across 239 endpoints. Thanks to all of you for being responsive when we reach out with issues.
IT PURCHASES:
Just a friendly reminder, if you need research equipment, please email technical-quotes@cc.gatech.edu and our research team will gladly assist to find you the best solution and pricing.
TSO TID BITS:
TSO holds a brief daily status meeting, a practice that started during COVID. Team members take turns hosting and often have a theme or game. We’ve had hosts that gave us a daily dad joke, led a geoguesser game, or focused on ‘this day in history’. March was hosted by our Instructional lead, Garrett Briaud, who ran a month-long Jeopardy game for the team. Competition was fierce, but Jeopardy was ultimately won by Andrew Leonard!
