What is the GT e-mail, calendar, and contacts transition to Office 365 all about?

Office 365

The campus provides a Microsoft Office 365 cloud-based email solution to most Institute faculty, staff, and students. Office 365 provides access to email, calendar, and contacts through a variety of PC and Apple clients, a rich web client, and mobile devices.

The configuration options for Office 365 clients are below:

  • Exchange Server = outlook.office365.com
  • Logon network security = Anonymous Authentication
  • Connection - Exchange over the Internet / Outlook Anywhere - Connect to Exchange Mailbox using HTTP
  • Mutually authenticate the session when connecting with SSL.
  • Proxy server for Exchange = outlook.office365.com
  • Principal name for proxy server = msstd:outlook.com
  • Proxy authentication setting = Basic Authentication
IMAP
  • Incoming Mail Server (IMAP) - outlook.office365.com (SSL, port 993 or 995)
  • Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) - smtp.office365.com (TLS, port 587)

OWA
  • Modern web browser

Outlook Web App works best under Internet Explorer 10+, Firefox 3+, Chrome 3+, and Safari 3+, which support advanced features (e.g. drag and drop). Other browsers (e.g. Opera, IE 8, etc.) can access OWA but with a reduced feature set: https://mail.gatech.edu
